Apple crisp without oats is a cozy, classic apple crisp made with fresh, sweet and tart, cinnamon spiced apples topped with a buttery crumble topping. It's the perfect fall dessert.
Using a pastry cutter, your hands or two forks, cut the cold cubed butter into the dry crumble topping until the crumble topping resembles wet sand with some larger crumbs. There should be no visible pieces of butter.
Peel, core and slice the apples into ¼- inch thick slices or ½ -inch cubes. In another large bowl toss the diced or sliced apples with the light brown sugar, sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon. Make sure all the fruit is well coated.
Bake the apple crisp without oats for 40 - 50 minutes or until the top is a beautiful golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges of the baking dish.
Cool the apple dessert for about 20 minutes. The filling needs time to cool and thicken. After the crumble has cooled, scoop into a bowl, top with ice cream or whipped cream and enjoy.
