Cookie Dough Overnight Oats Recipe

Megan
Cookie dough overnight oats is a rich and creamy make ahead breakfast or snack made by soaking rolled oats overnight in a sweetened milk and yogurt mixture. Mix in chia seeds, protein powder, nut butter and chocolate chips for a cookie dough oatmeal thats healthy, filled with protein and tastes like cookie dough.

Equipment

  • 1 blender or mixing bowl
  • 2 containers with lids

Ingredients

  • cups (136 g) rolled or old fashioned oats, divided
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 cup (226 g) greek yogurt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • 2 - 4 tablespoons (30 - 60 ml) maple syrup or honey
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons nut butter, optional
  • 4 tablespoons chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Grab 2 containers with lids to prepare the protein overnight oats recipe.
Add 2 tablespoons rolled oats to each container. This is to give the overnight oats a thicker texture. Feel free to skip or add all the oats (1 ½ cups total) straight into the blender.
1½ cups (136 g) rolled or old fashioned oats, divided , 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • Add the milk, yogurt, protein powder, maple syrup, rolled oats, chia seeds and nut butter to a blender. Blend the ingredients together on low or medium for about 30 - 60 seconds or until your desired texture.
    1 cup (226 g) greek yogurt, 1 cup (240 ml) milk, 2 - 4 tablespoons (30 - 60 ml) maple syrup or honey, 1 scoop protein powder, 2 tablespoons nut butter, optional
  • Evenly pour the cookie dough oats mixture into each of the containers. Add chocolate chips and mix well. Cover the containers and transfer the overnight protein oats to chill in the fridge for at least 4-6 hours or overnight.
    4 tablespoons chocolate chips
  • When it’s time to serve, top the cookie dough oats with your preferred toppings and enjoy. I love topping mine with more chocolate chips.

Notes

Store: Place the overnight cookie dough oats in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Serve: Top the overnight chocolate chip cookie oats with your preferred toppings. To keep them more in line with chocolate chip cookie dough, I recommend adding more chocolate chips. You can also add fruit like berries, a drizzle of nut butter, chopped nuts and/or a dusting of cinnamon right before serving.
Non Blender Method: If you prefer to skip the blender and still want the finer, “cookie dough” texture, use quick cooking oats. Mix half of the oats, chia seeds and chocolate chips into 2 containers. Mix the other ingredients together until smooth and well combined. Pour the mixture into each of the containers, cover the chill for 4 -6 hours. Top and enjoy.
