Why Should You Make This Recipe

I have several fun, easy to make and versatile holiday treat recipes on the blog. My personal favorites at the moment are my Chocolate Covered Oreos and Puppy Chow. This Christmas cookie fudge is another fun and easy treat I know you’ll love!

  • It’s quick, easy and fun to make. No need to worry about candy thermometers or hard to make fudge. This white chocolate sugar cookie fudge comes together quickly and easily on the stove top in about 10 minutes. All you have to do it heat, mix, pour, top with sprinkles and chill.
  • It’s a delicious holiday dessert. This quick sugar cookie fudge makes the perfect last minute holiday dessert.  Get as creative as you want with the toppings to match your holiday or celebration.

Ingredients

This fudge with sugar cookie mix is made with only four ingredients (plus sprinkles).

Gather sugar cookie mix, sweetened condensed milk, white chocolate, vanilla extract and festive sprinkles.

Substitutions

This sugar cookie mix fudge is meant to be quick and easy, but sometimes you may not have everything on hand. If you need them, here are my recommended substitutions for this recipe:

  • Sugar Cookie Mix: I used Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix. Feel free to use any brand of sugar cookie mix you like.
  • White Chocolate: I highly recommend using a white chocolate that melts easily. For this sugar cookie fudge, I chopped up a good quality white chocolate bar. Some recipes use white chocolate chips. I find they don’t melt as evenly or easily as white chocolate bars. White chocolate wafers are a possible substitute.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: This recipe hasn’t been tested with an alternative.
  • Vanilla Extract: This gives a lovely background flavor to the cookie fudge. Omit if you don’t have this ingredient.
  • Sprinkles: Feel free to use any festive sprinkles you like. I used some I already had in my pantry.

Variations

  • Chocolate Sugar Cookie Fudge: Use an equal amount of chocolate chips in place of the white chocolate. This recipe for Christmas cookie fudge calls for 12 oz. of chocolate.
  • Peanut Butter Sugar Cookie Fudge: Use an equal amount of peanut butter chips and white chocolate chips. For this recipe use 6 oz. (170 g) peanut butter chips and 6 oz. (170 g) white chocolate.
  • Nuts: Finely chop ½ cup - 1 cup of your choice of nuts to stir into the fudge.
  • Extracts: Add up to a teaspoon of any flavor extract you want. Peppermint would be a wonderful addition. Top the sugar cookie fudge with crushed candy canes. Almond or maple extracts would also be delicious. Tip: Start with ½ teaspoon of your choice of extract. Taste and adjust as needed.
  • Mix-ins: Use any sprinkles or candies you like. M&M’s or chopped peanut butter cups would both be delicious candies to mix into the sugar cookie fudge.
  • Microwave: Make this christmas cookie fudge in the microwave by pouring the sugar cookie mix, sweetened condensed milk and white chocolate into a large microwave safe bowl. Heat for 1 minute. Stir to combine the partially melted chocolate with the other ingredients. Heat again in 30 second increments, stirring in between. Continue to heat the mix until the sugar cookie fudge is smooth and well combined.

How To Make

Let me show you how to make this easy sugar cookie fudge.

  1. Pour the sugar cookie mix, sweetened condensed milk and white chocolate into a medium sauce pan. Heat the ingredients over medium heat. Stir several times to encourage all the ingredients to melt evenly and to prevent burning. Once everything is melted, smooth and well combined, remove the sugar cookie fudge mixture away from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  2. Pour the smooth and well combined Christmas cookie fudge into a parchment lined 8x8 or 9x9 pan. Use the back of a spoon or frosting knife to smooth the top of the fudge. Top with your choice of sprinkles.
  3. Transfer the fudge to the fridge to set for 1-2 hours. To remove, run a knife along any unlined edges of the pan. Use the excess parchment to lift the fudge out of the pan. Slice into your desired number of pieces and enjoy!

How To Store, Freeze and Thaw

Store leftover sugar cookie fudge: Transfer any leftover pieces of fudge into an airtight container to be stored in the fridge. This Christmas fudge keeps well in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

Freeze leftover fudge: Line the bottom of a freezer safe container with parchment paper. Place the leftover fudge in a single layer. If two layers are needed, line the first layer of fudge with more parchment paper. Store in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Thaw the fudge: Transfer your desired number of pieces into the fridge to thaw overnight. Enjoy straight from the fridge.

M’s Expert Tips

  • Heat the white chocolate with the sweetened condensed milk. This helps prevent the white chocolate from seizing.
  • Stir frequently: The mixture has a lot of different textures and it may seem like they won’t come together. I promise you they will. Make sure to encourage even melting by stirring gently and frequently.
  • Customize the fudge. If you want to mix in nuts, chocolate, sprinkles or crushed pretzels, it’s best to mix them into the fudge right after mixing in the vanilla extract and before pouring it into the pan to set.
