Why Should You Make This Recipe

I have several fun, versatile and easy to make treat recipes on the blog. My personal favorites at the moment are my Christmas Cookie Fudge, Chocolate Covered Rice Krispie Treats, Easy S’mores Truffles, Chocolate Covered Oreos and Puppy Chow. This 2 ingredient fudge is another fun and easy treat I know you’ll love!

  • It’s quick, easy and fun to make. This peanut butter frosting fudge takes about 5 minutes to make in the microwave. It’s such an easy recipe to make. All you have to do it heat, stir, pour and set!
  • It’s delicious and versatile no bake dessert. With only 2 ingredients, this quick fudge made with frosting can be made with almost any nut butter and any frosting flavor you could want. Don’t forget toppings. Get as creative as you want!

Ingredients

This frosting fudge recipe calls for only two ingredients. Luckily they are also basic pantry staples.

Gather creamy peanut butter and store bought frosting.

Substitutions

These rice krispie treats covered in chocolate are meant to be quick and easy, but sometimes you may not have everything on hand. If you need them, here are my recommended substitutions for this recipe:

  • Creamy Peanut Butter: I like to use salted peanut butter in this 2 ingredient fudge. Feel free to use unsalted or crunchy peanut butter if you prefer.
  • Vanilla Frosting: I used Betty Crocker vanilla frosting to make this pb and frosting fudge. Feel free to use your preferred brand or what’s available in your grocery store. Chocolate frosting would be a delicious flavor as well. Do not use “whipped” frostings as they aren’t the proper consistency for fudge.

Variations

  • Toppings: For even more flavorful and customizable fudge, top it with any of these suggested toppings: Mini peanut butter cups, chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, crushed pretzels or roughly chopped Oreo cookies.
  • Nut Allergy: Use sunflower seed butter in place of creamy peanut butter for a nut friendly 2 ingredient fudge.
  • Vegan or Dairy Free: Many store bought frostings are dairy free and vegan friendly. Miss Jones or Simple Mills are both vegan frosting options.

How To Make

Let me show you how to make peanut butter fudge with frosting.

  1. Pour the peanut butter and vanilla frosting into a microwave safe bowl. Heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir to combine. Return the partially mixed peanut butter and frosting to the microwave. Heat again for another 15 seconds. Stir well to fully combine. The 2 ingredient fudge should be smooth and have thickened. If not, heat once more for 15 seconds.
  2. Pour the well combined peanut butter frosting fudge into a parchment lined 8x8 pan. Use the back of a spoon or frosting knife to smooth the top of the fudge.
  3. Transfer the fudge to the fridge to set for 1-2 hours. To remove, run a knife along any unlined edges of the pan. Use the excess parchment to lift the fudge out of the pan. Slice into your desired number of pieces and enjoy!

How To Store, Freeze and Thaw

Store leftover peanut butter fudge: Transfer any leftover pieces of fudge into an airtight container to be stored in the fridge. This peanut butter frosting fudge keeps well in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.

Freeze leftover fudge: Line the bottom of a freezer safe container with parchment paper. Place the leftover fudge in a single layer. If two layers are needed, line the first layer of fudge with more parchment paper. Store in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Thaw the peanut butter and frosting fudge: Transfer your desired number of pieces into the fridge to thaw overnight. Enjoy straight from the fridge.

M’s Expert Tips

  • Heat 15 second increments. After the initial 30 seconds of heating the peanut butter and frosting in the microwave, heat the mixture in 15 second increments.
  • Customize the fudge. If you want to mix in nuts, chocolate, sprinkles or crushed pretzels, it’s best to mix them into the fudge right after mixing and stirring but before pouring it into the pan to set. If topping the fudge, add any toppings right after smoothing out the fudge. Gently press the toppings into the fudge to ensure they stick.

FAQs

Can I make this fudge on the stove?

Yes! Pour the frosting and peanut butter into a small sauce pan. Heat over low-medium heat, stirring frequently.

Can I double this peanut butter fudge recipe?

Make a double batch of this 2 ingredient peanut butter fudge using a 1-1 ratio of ingredients. This would mean 32 oz. each of frosting and peanut butter. Use a 9x13 sized pan if making a double batch.
