Why Should You Make This Recipe

I’ve recently become a huge fan of simple and delicious sweet dessert dip recipes. My S’mores Dip and Oreo Dip are of my favorites on the blog. This cool whip dip is another fun and easy fruit dip I know you’ll love!

  • It’s quick, easy and fun to make. This cool whip dip for fruit takes no more than 10 minutes to make. Just mix together 4 simple ingredients and serve with your favorite fruit or sweet dipping crackers like graham crackers.
  • Perfect for entertaining: What I love most about this cool whip and cream cheese dip is how easy it is to throw together at the last minute. Not only is this sweet and creamy dip easy to make, it is such a crowd pleaser and easy to customize.

Ingredients

This fruit dip with cool whip is made from 4 simple basic pantry ingredients. Here’s what you need.

Substitutions

This simple fruit whip dip is meant to be quick and easy, but sometimes you may not have everything on hand. If you need them, here are my recommended substitutions for this recipe:

  • Cream Cheese: Mascarpone cheese would be the easiest substitute for cream cheese.
  • Powdered Sugar: Maple sugar would be good refined sugar free substitute. Granulated sugar will also work well to sweeten the cream cheese.
  • Vanilla Extract: This provides a nice background flavor to the fruit dip. Feel free to omit if you don’t have any on hand.
  • Cool Whip: I typically prefer making my own whipped cream, but for this dip, I found that cool whip was more stable and held together for days.

Variations

  • 2 Ingredient Cool Whip Fruit Dip:  Mix 8 oz. Cool Whip with a 3.4 oz. packet of jello instant pudding mix until well combined. Feel free to use whatever flavor you like. Vanilla pudding or strawberry pudding mix would both be delicious choices.
  • Cool Whip Dip with Yogurt: Another 2 ingredient variation is mixing 16 oz. cool whip with 8 - 10 oz. strawberry yogurt until well combined.
  • 3 Ingredient Cool Whip Dip: Mix 8 oz. of cream cheese with 8 oz. cool whip and 7 oz. marshmallow creme or fluff until well combined.
  • Strawberry Yogurt Cool Whip Dip: Mix 8 oz. cool whip with 6 tablespoons instant strawberry jello mix and 1 cup greek yogurt until well combined.

How To Make

Learn how to make cool whip fruit dip in a few easy steps.

  1. Grab a large mixing bowl and an electric hand mixer or just use your stand mixer with paddle attachment. On low mix the cream cheese until it is smooth across the bottom of the bowl. This typically takes about 1 minute on low.
  2. On low mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined. Fold the cool whip into the sweetened cream cheese mixture. I like to do this in 2 - 3 batches to ensure the cool whip is evenly mixed in.
Transfer the cool whip dip into a serving bowl. Create a decorative swirl using the back of a spoon. Serve with fresh fruit, graham crackers, pretzels or cookies.

M’s Expert Tips

  • Bring the cream cheese to room temperature. This allows the ingredients to mix together more evenly and lessens the chance of the cream cheese splitting.
  • Thaw the cool whip. Make sure to thaw the cool whip before using in the fruit dip recipe. I like to transfer the cool whip from the freezer to the fridge the night before.
